Big News: We’re Looking for Our Next Leader!

At The Center for Community Transitions (CCT), we’ve been working for over five decades to change lives, rebuild families, and strengthen our communities—one person at a time. Now, we’re looking for a passionate, visionary changemaker to lead us into our next chapter as our new Executive Director. Could it be you?

This is more than just a job—it’s a calling.

It’s about standing up for people impacted by incarceration. It’s about creating real second chances. It’s about pushing the boundaries of what a supportive, equitable community can look like.

Why This Role Matters

Every year, thousands of individuals in Charlotte and across North Carolina face barriers to rebuilding their lives after incarceration. CCT is here to break down those barriers—with supportive employment, work release and transition programs for currently incarcerated women, and behavioral health.

As Executive Director, you’ll be at the heart of that transformation.

  • Guiding a powerful mission rooted in justice and compassion
  • Elevating our impact through strategic vision and bold leadership
  • Building bridges—with donors, partners, policymakers, and community members
  • Inspiring a passionate, dedicated team who shows up every day ready to make a difference

This is your chance to be the spark that ignites change across generations.

Why Now? North Carolina Is All In on Reentry

In January 2024, North Carolina became one of the first states to join Reentry 2030—a national initiative aiming to dramatically improve reentry success for people exiting prison and those under supervision. Governor Roy Cooper’s Executive Order 303 launched a comprehensive, whole-of-government approach to reentry, setting bold goals to be achieved by 2030.

The state’s Reentry 2030 Strategic Plan outlines objectives such as increasing educational credentials earned by incarcerated individuals by 75%, reducing homelessness among formerly incarcerated people by 10% annually, and expanding access to behavioral health and substance use treatment.

As Executive Director, you’ll have the opportunity to align CCT’s efforts with these statewide initiatives, ensuring that our programs and services contribute to North Carolina’s ambitious reentry goals.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for someone who brings:

  • A strong background in nonprofit leadership
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and systemic change
  • An ability to inspire, fundraise, advocate, and collaborate
  • And above all, a deep belief in the power of second chances

If you’ve ever thought, “I want my work to matter. I want to lead something that transforms lives”—this is that moment.
