COVID-19 update from Executive Director Patrice Funderburg
March 18, 2020/
In light of the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect the health of our staff, clients, volunteers and supporters, we’re suspending all Center for Community Transitions programming and events until further notice.
This includes:
- Families Doing Time (Third Tuesday Family Night, literacy tutoring and cultural excursions).
- Center for Women onsite dinners from the community and community volunteer passes.
- LifeWorks! classes and support groups. We’ll have a small team to direct and inform clients and refer them to emergency basic needs. Networking clients will still be able to sign in and receive gift cards and bus passes. For Formerly Incarcerated Transitions (FIT) clients, we’re taking precautionary measures and shifting to virtual support via telephone, text and email.
- Postponing our Build People, Not Prisons fundraising event that was scheduled for March 26. We thank all our event sponsors and ticket purchasers and will keep everyone updated with the new date for the event. Now more than ever, CCT’s important work of helping formerly incarcerated individuals and their families will continue during this crisis and long after.
We’ve been thinking of innovative ways our supporters and donors can assist to ensure we can continue to fulfill our mission. As such, we’ve decided to move the auction portion of our fundraiser online on March 26-29.
We encourage you to continually check for updates for the most accurate information from the Centers for Disease Control and Mecklenburg County Health Department.
Everyone please stay safe and be well!
